Feedagrisolutions
Our Story
Over the years, we have discovered how important partnerships are in reaching across disciplines and geographic boundaries.
Our approach has allowed us to uncover "novel" ingredients with functional properties that can provide nutritious value and other components with physiological activity that provides greater efficiencies in food conversion, protein and energy utilization, therefore reducing the risk of diseases and extending the life of farm animals.

We are currently exploring potential applications in the area of functional ingredients by engineering biological molecules toward functions different from ones in nature, opening up a whole new area of research and development.
We know and understand the feed and food industries, and our mission is to develop and provide these industries with renewable and sustainable resources. We utilize our expertise to bring environmental, economic and social benefits to companies around the world.
Founder
I started my career in aquaculture when I joined Cartagenera de Acuacultura, Colombia, after completing a BSc in Marine Biology in 1985. I spent the next eight years working in different aquaculture operations. In 1993, I immigrated to the U.S. and completed a PhD in Environmental Biology at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, LA. The following year, I was awarded a National Science Foundation post-doctoral fellowship to work at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) NHEERL lab in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

In 2000, I joined Zeigler Bros Inc as Research Director and was later promoted to the position of Vice President of Research and Technology. In 2005, I was appointed President of the Fats and Proteins Research Foundation in Washington DC, USA.

Over the last 25 years of my career, I have assisted in the development of responsible fishing and aquaculture practices. I have developed and implemented comprehensive management and research programs worldwide, including new product development, ingredient value models, formulation standards, and quality assurance programs.
I was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Aquaculture Alliance for over 15 years and Chairman of the BAP feed mill certification committee.
“The question remains if we can take advantage of how much water exists to produce “protein food” and if we can do it in a way that we can preserve the quality of the surrounding environment."
